MINAMI
The changing qualities of natural light, the angle of illumination, and the position of the viewer—MINAMI’s works respond to their environment, revealing a different radiance with every encounter. A recurring element throughout MINAMI’s practice is the square canvas and the circular form placed at its center. The circle, a universal symbol of wholeness, harmony, and eternity, serves as a quiet and stable structure. Within that still framework, thousands of crystal glass elements are assembled into a concentrated field of light, producing a subtle sense of movement and fluctuation.

Before entering the world of crystal-based art, MINAMI worked as a comedian represented by Yoshimoto Kogyo.
His earlier practice of bringing joy to people through performance has since evolved into a visual language that moves emotion through material, light, and presence.

Using tweezers, MINAMI places each crystal by hand, calculating its angle and chromatic relationship within the overall composition. The process demands extraordinary concentration and an immense investment of time.
